LOOK i NEED HELPI HAVE A 1998 A4 2.8 AND I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FAN ON THE LEFT SID OF THE ENGINE IT WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS WARM. OR IT WILL STAY ON WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF. I END UP HAVING TO UNHOOK THE MAIN LINE TO MY BATTERY HAS ANYONE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM....

how long dose it stay on I wouldn't worry unless it is running for like 30 min after I turned the car off. I measurs a couple diff temps in diff places and turns it on from there. one last thing, is the car overheating.

 

Can you stop the fan while the car is running? If you can the fan clutch is toast. Don't stick your hand in there but also if the fan stays spinning after you shut the car off that is a sign that the fan clutch has failed.
