ok so i have a 1998 audi a4 quattro. lately i been driving and when im stuck in traffic i notice that the temp gauge goes up bout 1 line higher than half. is that bad? does anyone know what can be causing it to do that? and as well my turbo timer all of a sudden stopped working. once i put the car in park and engage my e-brake and take the keys out the car shuts off. any ideas?? thanks.

Maybe your temp guage raises b/c it's summer time and you're sitting in traffic on a hot road. I wouldn't worry about that if it only does it while you're sitting. Dunno about the turbo timer...what kind do you have?
yeah i figured thats what it was. im going to wait for the cooler days to come and see if it still happens. as for the turbo timer i dont know what kind i have. i got the car in june and have not gotten a chance to do much to it. where can i find it to see what type of timer i have. noob here!! sorry

Our cars don't come stock with a turbo timer if that's what you're thinking. The car is doing the right thing by turning off when you remove the key. If you want a turbo timer there are plenty of aftermarket ones available but a cheaper alternative is to let it sit with the engine on for about 2 minutes when you get home (or don't drive like a maniac for the last few miles of your trip).
no i bought the car from in june and it came with the timer cause i had used it everyday until i go use it the other day and it didnt work. i know they dont come stock.

I don't know, i have sat many hot days this summer in traffic and my temp gauge has never budged. When was your coolant, thermostat, water pump last changed. not saying all those would affect it but one of the 3 might. just a suggestion.

It's prolly just the fact you're not moving, so the radiator doesn't cool the fluid flowing through it. It's happens to mine too, but once it move it cools right off.
