a4 Leaking Fluid?
Well my power steering has been acting up over the weekend and i took it into find out that the clamps on some of my fluid hoses are straight up leaking not seeping not weeping(although i am a little) full on LEAKING! the fluid is literally pouring from the clamps i would like to know why the hell i didnt notice fluid all over the place. Second, how the hell do clamps just all of a sudden stop working its only a 98 its not like the hoses are breaking down. Anyways just thought i would post this cause i hate wasting money on supposedly "upper level" europeantechnicians to work on it. there just effing mechanics. Anyone can got to freking UTI.
do u know for sure if its the clamps? is it leaking into the wheel? I had to have a new rack and pinion installed in my car beacause a valve broke for the power steering and the only way to fix it was just to get a new rack and pinion.
hope thats not the case for you.

no all the guysaid was that its leaking at the clamp and he said its the original one time use clamps so either those just wore out now or something but i asked if it was just seeping out and he said that no it was pretty much coming right back out as soon as you poured it in. Its relly strange to me why this would happen becuase most of the cars life has been spent highway driving so unless my technical intuition is wrong and highway driving does somehow wear out your steering then it would make sense if its pooping out on me. I never drive it hard or take really hard fast turns so i just dont know. The perrils of owning a machine.
do u know exactly where its leaking at? he may have said its coming out of the hose thats not clamped well or whatever, but if its leaking right in your wheel then you need a new rack and pinion most likely.
Well, its a common problem and easy fix.
Replace the power steering hoses, and new clamps, and you're good as new.
You'll also need some mineral based CF 11 power steering fluid to replace what you lose.
