Default a4 manual headlight adjust

I was searching for information about possibly adjusting my headlights manually since the automatic system isn't working and the lights are pointed at the ground. I was able to find information about how to adjust the A6 lights, but don't know if it is the same for my 03 A4. Any help is appreciated.

Did you turn your car on without the headlights plugged in? You can use the vagcom to fix that, I think..

The previous owner may have done that but I have not. I just picked up the car about 10 days ago and other than installing XM and replacing a foglight, I haven't done anything to it. Now that you mention it tho, when I replaced the foglight I noticed that there is no molded plug that connects to the bulb. Instead, there are two factory-style metal connectors that individually plug onto the bulb. I thought this was odd and maybe the PO had done something wierd with the lights or the front end and caused the issue.

On a VAG-COM note, there are cables on ebay for around $30 and links to download the software for free. Is this all that is needed to be able to troubleshoot and/or resolve this issue or does the software need to be registered?

Thanks.
