A4 performance comparison
Hi guys,
I'm new on the site, but an Audi enthusiast from way back. I have just sold my Audi 80 V6 2.6, which was a great car but getting a bit long in the tooth. The performance was (for me) absolutely spot on - nice and quick, but very controllable.
I am now looking at getting an A4, probably about 2002 model. But should I buy a 1.8T or a 2.4 V6? I want similar performance to my old 80, definitely not slower. Anybody know which is the better car, and able to recommend which one to go for?

[align=left]there is no 2.4, you mean the 2.8?
the 1.8 is slower stock, but once you chip it, it becomes faster than the 2.8. You can't really mod the 2.8, and the only significant gains for them are supercharger and nitrous. whereas the 1.8t can be modded extensively. 2.8 is more reliable tho

If you're looking at a 2002, I think the V6 is a 3.0L. Either way, I would go V6. I'm okay with being biased.
But your best bet would be to go and test drive both. Of course, when they're both stock, there won't be much of a comparison.

1.8t if u want to mod... 1+ (chip and injectors) will go a long way (APR claims 235 hp), if u can do a test pipe, exhaust, DV and FMIC/DSMIC at some point anyway
i just have a apr 1+ with test pipe and neuspeed exhaust and i walked a 3.0 a4 this week on the interstate with ease
