Engine performance comparison logging VAGcom
During the next few weeks, I want to install and compare various turbo/tune/injector combinations.
Car is 1998 B5 A4 AEB 1.8T Quattro manual, nDBW/DBC.
Obviously, dyno session would be best but are NOT an option (cost prohibitive).
I also won’t go to drag strips.
Leaves VAGcom combined with boost/rpm video logs (no MAP ECU data).
I want to compare
Turbos: Stock, K03/K04 hybrid, K04 max
Tunes: Stock, T.A.P. Stg 2, GIAC PC 16
Injectors: Stock, 315cc
The primary goal is to compare the engine performance in the various configurations. Like airflow, boost, injector duty cycle, air fuel ratio, timing, N75 duty cycle, engine load (?), ……?
The secondary goal is to learn WHAT changed, HOW each variation performs, and WHERE the limits/risk/problems of the variation are?
Is 0-60 in VAGcom a practical way to compare performance?
In Measuring Blocks, I can select 3 groups (with 4 predetermined parameters/values).
Going to Advance Measuring Values, I can freely select any 12 parameters to log, right?
Which 12 parameters should I select? I assume 3rd gear WOT pulls?
Would it be advised to install an MBC in parallel (as a safety measure to limit boost spikes)?
What else should I look out for to avoid doing damage to the engine?
Any other tips?
