Thats pretty accurate Doose. The 1.8T engine is pretty durable and tough. The 2.8 is known for oil leaks, but even that engine not not prone to a whole lot of problems. The 1.8 requires more attention cuz it has a lot of stuff the 2.8 doesnt have (extra oil and coolant lines, vacuum hoses, turbo, boost valves, etc )

you can not generalize the 2.8 engines together. The 96-97 12v 2.8 is more reliable than the 30v although less powerful. It also is not highly moddable. But to some people that is not an issue.

I have a 1997 A4, 1.8t with 107,000 Miles. (Not km) It has been great! No major repairs. I did choose to do the timing belt at about 85,ooo miles.

Clconversion, don't you mean "kilometerage"?

I've been looking @ the A4 for a while now, and I've read up on the consumer reports - the results seems split 50/50 people either love or hate the car - those of you who have had problems, can you decribe them? also what year/engine A4s are they?? I'm looking into a 99 1.8T (mainly because I've heard of more problems w/ the 97-98 1.8Ts)
