A4 S4 swap
the motor alone i was looking at getting when i started the thread was 1000 bucks a eurospec block is like 6 g's. the only thing i said about 800 was a supercharger, i think they are way over priced, and although are worth more really around 2,500 3,000 deffanitly not 5,000. so get off the 800 dollar train. seriously read everything before you post, there are so many irrelevent post. i think most people must just read the last 4 post and jump on the band wagon. also if i have all the parts ready to go, i'm willing to bet if i can find a way to tune it correctly it'll basically be a weekend deal. but like i said i'm still gathering parts so i'm a long ways fom actually doing it. i'm not just going to rip my motor out and pull a flintstone drop the next one in and say what now. which is why i'm trying to figure out early on, what i'll need and what will need to be relocated, i'm pretty sure the radiator doesn't, that was in an earlier post.
Unless you have done this before and have every last part on hand, your not going to finish this in 2 1/2days.
Also if you have the ecu, which you need, you dont have to tune anything.

Honestly, if you think SC are over priced, just wait till you start to get all the S4 parts you will need. I will give you $1000 if you can start on a friday, & have everything running & moving on Sunday night. There will be NOTHING TO TUNE! There is also NO WAY you are going to rebuild a short block in the process. If you are purchasing a new shortblock, then why are you also purchasing a used motor? The shortblock is the STRONGEST part of the whole thing! The only people who have done piston damage are ones who are running well over 500whp! Do you even know what a shortblock comes with? If you go this route, you will also need another $4-6k in parts.
You also have no clue what it is like being involved with a job like this to be held up by a $2 dealer only part! There is NO WAY to tell you exactly what you will need, until you purchase then engine, & ecu, & see what is missing. Then as you proceeded to to install the 2.7t, you will find out even more little parts that you will need.
ORIGINAL: 2k S4
There IS NO EURO SPEC BLOCK for the 2.7t, they are all the same!!!

follow cincy's link there are MANY different small blocks, of course i'm not going to be buying multiple engines, i would get one or the other small block or used complete engine. if i use a S4 ECU all of my gauges will be f'ed as it is a defferent generation, or i could go stand alone but i have no idea what i will be getting into with a stand alone as i have never tried it? but i am assuming that i will need to tune with a totally different ECU unless you know something that i don't. and of course starting from the ground up is going to cost way as a block from eurospec cost 6 g's alone and and to my knowledge doesn't have turbos which will be easily as much. that is why i was looking at jumping on a used motor with the wiring and ecu for a g even though i'm probly not going to attempt the swap for a year. i would rather find a smashed s4 so i can use the ECU and then just also swap my interior gauges and such. but it is hard to pass up a complete engine for a 1000 bucks.

So, now you are NOT getting a 2.7t, but you want to build your own? It's SHORT block, not SMALL block, we don't drive Chevy's. This is NOT a running engine, just the base. If you just purchase the short block, you will need....
full heads, timing parts, intake, TB, headers, turbo's, all intake pluming, Y pipe, all cooling parts, timing cover parts, ignition parts, all sensors, etc... ALL YOU GET IT THE BLOCK with pistons, rods, & crank. Right there you are looking at many THOUSANDS of dollars just to get the whole engine.
Then you still need all the other parts. Oh, your 2.8 parts will mostly not work, the S4 intake faces the front, not the back.
Yea, your ECU will not work on a 2.7T, it's not advanced enough, & will not work in any way shape or form. If you go stand alone, it's got to be a good one, cuz the 2.7t has a electric TB. Then you have the N75 & N239 to control. Expect to spend about $10K GETTING THAT INSTALLED & RUNNING.
Now you have invested about $35k into a car worth $5k & it's still not a S4, & will not be as fast.
I was kind of on you side when you wanted to find a used engine & parts, but this way is just waked(!) & shows you really have no clue what this would take to become reality. For that kind of time & effort, I would purchase a used B5 RS4 & be done with it.
ya i wasn't really looking into getting just the block for all the purposes that you just stated. i'm sorry about the mix up i guess i was still thing about the ridiculousness of the guy way back who suggested just putting a chevy small block in it. but ya i do realize how much it would cost to try that. what i originally had in mind was looking for a smashed s4, taking the engine ecu clutch ect, ect, i want to go front mount interecooler but don't really know anything about a w/a or injection cooled intercooler so again i'm looking for someone who knows something about those options. but again I FOUND A USED 2.7T WITH ECU, TURBOS, INTERCOOLERS, AND ALL OTHER SAID WIRES this is right now WHAT I AM LOOKING AT USING CURRENTLY
