Has anyone had any experience with major sludge issues...

Bought my 2005 A4 Q 1.8T certified pre-owned with clean bill of health...i change oil every 10,000 mi as owners manual suggests and recently was hit in small parking lot fender bender...aside from body damage...oil light went on while they are fixing...they are saying no oil pressure and oil pump may have to be replaced...crazy because i thought that wasn't an item i would ever have to worry about...could engine pickup tube have been knocked off and caused problem...also hearing issues about sludge and Audi not owning up to engineering issues in this regards....any insight or debate?
