A6 2.7T or A4 2.8??
Ive just recently been interested in possibly getting an Audi soon. I did some searches to see what was for sale in the area and came up with a couple options...but before I go into detail with all that, i'll explain what it is im going for. First off, I would really like a sporty/ fast, yet nice car. This is where I came upon deciding Audi would more than likely be my best option. The 2 or 3 audi's im concidering are the A6 2.7T, the A4 2.8 and possibly the 1.8T. Now, my question is, which of the following deals sounds most appealing to you guys? I really like the fact that the 2.7t is turbocharged and puts out ~250hp, however, my question: is the A6 2.7T too big of a car to really feel sporty and be very fast, how easy is it to mod? Next is the A4 2.8, it sounds like a fairly fast car at ~190hp, i like the fact its a V6 and i like how the A4's look, and im sure they handle well with their size. Now lastly, the 1.8T, which is not really high on my list, being a 4cylinder (dont get me wrong, 4 cylinders are great and can be powerful, but i'd prefer to mod a v6), is it more impressive (in speed) over the 2.8 and 2.7T?
Ultimately, what it comes down to is of the 3 cars, which is the fastest, and which would feel the most sporty, is it a compromise?
1. 2000 A6 2.7T Quattro AWD 6spd loaded, with 93k miles for $13k. Car Dealership
2. 1999 A4 2.8 Quattro AWD 5spd 100k miles loaded, (120 point mech. and safety check, etc) for $9800. Car Dealership
3. 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro AWD 5 spd 109k miles loaded, (sport ed. interior/heated seats/ ASE certified inspected/Carfaxed) for $8k. Car Dealership
4. 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro AWD 5spd loaded, 96k miles for $9300.
5. 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro AWD 5spd loaded, 100k miles loaded, $9500.
Again, im not so much looking for the "nicest/most luxurious" of them, but the one with the greatest ability for speed and power. So, Of these 5 deals which would you guys guide me towards if im wanting the most speed/power/modibility...?
One other note, i'll have about $11-12k to work with. S for the A6, thatd be all i could do for now, however with the others, i'd be left with about $2-3K availible for adding mods.

This might offer you some perspective... check out www.goapr.com
A chipped 2.7T gives you 307hp/366lb-ft OR 318hp/382lb-ft (91 octane and 93 octane programs)... your a6 still sounding like it might not be fast?
Chipped 1.8T's give you 200 hp...
If you want fast, do NOT get a 2.8... even if a chip is the ONLY thing you do... either car will be more to your liking than the 2.8. I'd definately snag the A6 though... you want "Nice" and "Fast" ... a chipped 2.7T would kick some serious *** man. 382 lbs of torque!!! Crazy... Buuuuy it!

Thanks man,
After doin some thinking in the mean time, i realized i should go with one of the turbo's anyways...With this specific case, sounds like the A6 will be nuts. Asides from the timing belt replacement, what else should i inquire/look into when checking out this car?
BTW, how much would a chip run, what are some other mods you'd reccomend after a chip?

A6s can hold their own. I drive an A6 Wagon and beat the tar out of A4s and S4s for handling all the time. Not to say that they couldn't beat the crap out of me sometimes, so everyone who is mounting an attack, I am just saying, the wider and slightly longer wheelbase really makes it handle well in the curves.
I only lost traction in my A6 once, that was going through a 15 mph curve at 60... and in all fairness to my baby, there was loose gravel and she only broke loose for a second in the rear.
Make sure all the electronics are good and check the CV boots on the axles (quattros have 4 axles with 2 boots each). Also SPark plugs and ask about oil changes.

Dont forget that 2.8 engines can be Supercharged, and that creates much nicer powerband.
