^^ This is true but all the cars he is looking at are quattro.... So the 1.8T would be the best IMHO

To get a 1.8 modded up there like a 2.7, you have to (to do it right) replace seals and probably a cam shaft and all that. You would be better buying an S4 with the 2.7 if you want the A4 body style. But personally I think the A6 and A8 have better bodies.

quattro just means 4x4 nothing special so more weight, fwd is lighter so depends what you want from your motor, if you like the audi for speed and weight go for the TT
Quattro doesn't mean 4x4... it's all wheel drive, not 4 wheel drive... anyways, it is special, considering quattro is one of the biggest reasons we are all in audis. I am not saying a FWD audi is a bad car -- far from it! But yeah... the 2.7T would kick *** in every way.

And who said a 1.8T 5 spd quattro is a rare combination? :P

Not difficult to supercharge it... but I think it's over 5 grand when you're done... and will still have less hp than a chipped 2.7T. Supercharged 2.8's have about 300 hp.

well ye if you go through PES, I'm on the other hand developing a kit that can whoop the 2.7T *** any time any day [stock+chip].
and my kit will range between 2 to 3 grand or even less. However it will take time to finish and create proper links with other providers.

Well regardless... the 2.7T also comes with a bad-*** interior, and a 6 spd... So I'd "settle" for the 318 hp and 384 lbs of torque.

haha, Thanks for the help guys. I'll definately look into that 2.7T. I've got a buddy that swears by his Jetta 1.8T, saying its "like a racecar and is fast as hell...". He then goes onto say never to get an Audi, theyre horrible and break down all the time, however he has a VW... Havent Audi's always had better maintinence reccords than the Jettas and Passats?

How would an A4 1.8T Quattro compare to a Jetta 1.8T??
