Default Aaaaaaaand I'm done

Well, I'm not done, but my brakes are. I cooked up my front brakes really good autocrossing. I knew they weren't in the best shape when I went there, but now, they are starting to squeal. I got me some sweet organic pads because they cost more than regular ones, so they have to be better. Anyone do the brakes themselves? Last car I did brakes on was my Lincoln, and it was pretty straightforward. I have the book for my car, and it looks like a simple job, but looks can be decieving.

Yeah, I did mine...rotors and pads. They are just like any other brake job. I hear there is a tool you can buy to surpress the cylinders, but all I used was a pair of needle nose pliers. The cylinder has two small grooves in it. You have to push in on the cylinder and twist clockwise at the same time to get the cylinder flush with the rubber bushing tucked all the way inside the caliper. It was an easy job once I learned it took quite a bit of force while turning. Hope that helps.

Simple - there's nothing special about Audi brakes... well at least the ones on the A4.

Cool! If it's so easy, I just might have to kill my brakes more often!

Yeah, the front ones are easy, but you need a special tool to do the rear cus they twist in.

Yeah the front are easy. I just use a 6 inch C-Clamp works great for the front. The rear are a little tougher because you do have to use a crap load of force while turning them. you can get the tool for like ten dollars at auto zone. looks like a little cube with nubs on it. I just had to grind down some of the nubs to get it fit better. Probably be a lot easier then pliers just from my experience.

I wouldn't buy that piece of crap tool from autozone. I'm pretty sure it is made for Hondas. I bought it and ended up getting frustated. Just use some needle nose pliers like I said earlier, and push hard while you turn. Once I figured that out, it was only a 30 minute job.
