Default About to buy a 2000 B5

Hey guys I need some advice. I'm getting **** from any and anyone I talk to about this, I figured you guys would understand.

I'm about to pick up a 1.8T B5 A4 (2000)
- 161km on the clock
- 8 previous owners, 4 were dealers (auctions in the space of a year)
- Bone stock

The car is absolutely mint, the dealer I'm buying from seems reliable, the car shifts amazing, there have been no accidents - i've done both a gov't search and a carfax.

Problem is everyone including my dad is telling me this is a bad bad bad idea, but I want this car. Basically I need to know what happens maintenance wise around 160k? If something like the timing belt hasn't been changed yet would it have snapped already? Fuel pump? oil pump? Clutch? Turbo? I'm trying to get the dealer to get as many service records as possible, If I can't get any I will most likely pass on it I guess. Any help/advice is appreciated. The car comes with a 3 year warantee from the dealer if that means anything.

if you have a full coverage warranty i don't see why not?

and as far as service, if you can find out whats been done to it then great because all we can really do is guess what needs to be done with that ammount of mileage.

161,000 Km or 161 Km?

If in fact it is 161,000 = a little bit over 100,000 miles. For a 2000 thats alot of mileage , i'd chuck it and look for one with lesser miles on it. Plus you never told us the price they were offering for the car.

I say stay away.

thats not too bad , i'd try haggling a bit. Here in Cali you can get a 01 B5 with about 100k Km on it for about 8,000+. depending on the equip.

I've tried to read up as much as I can, but honestly guys... am I going to be crying in a month or two because of maintanence? I figure it can't cost that much more than the average car at this age... people are really quick to exaggerate and bash the hell out of audi.
