About To Kill Someone....Updated *Pics*
I went in today to have tints done on my car, it costed me 370 complete which is outrageous. I asked the guy how long it would take and he said 2-3 hours, so I figured I'd wait because the place was aways from my house and anyone that could pick me up. To make a long story short, it took 5.5 hours and after the guy finished and was putting my rearview mirror back on over the windshield strip, he pushed too hard which cracked my windshield. Luckily, they're replacing it so at least I really don't have to kill anyone. I just had to vent, thanks for listening.
Make sure their replacing the glass and not just "fixing" it.When I test drove my a4 the rear-view was missing and their was chunk of glass missing out of the windshield where the mirror should've been. i obviously noticed and we agreed that itwill be fixed. Their idea of fixing it was to glue the mirror w/chunk still attached. 3 days later it was 105* and the mirror fell right out again. Long story shorter, have them replace the glass and not glue that piece back in.
That sucks, but could be worse. A few years back I took my old Mustang into the dealership for an oil change and tuneup, and when they were bringing my car back out to me, the guy backed it into a pole. They fixed it and all, but it still sucked. Needless to say, I've been doing my own maintenence ever since. So yeah, I know how you feel.
Thanks for the support guys and listening to me bitch but man does it really suck to have that happen. As I was walking out the guy said that my new windshield is already going to be delivered and will arrive tonight. Their tinter will then apply a new windshield strip before installing the new windshield so when i get there they'll throw it in and i can go. It's still gonna take 2 hours to do because there's an appointment ahead of me so i'm going to have one of my buddys follow me and then we'll go somewhere while they're doing it. I've really learned my lesson about estimated times, waiting sucks!
lol, ya i did get one but it's 4 inches because of tint laws in michigan. I like the look of it personally. Here are some pics, the middle pic shows the extent of the windshield strip.

I'd be so pissed if they just fixed the crack without replacing the entire thing. I'm kind of worried that they're going to do a crappy job on the windshield install and the next time i get a car wash my far will be flooded like it came from new orleans.
