About turbo cars....
I am new to the turbo scene and stuff so forgive me if this is a stupid question. When you drive a turbo'd car could you set the boost/psi you want to run? I've heard people talk about turning down boost and turning up boost. Also, how many psi's do the a4's run at? I was looking at a 97 to 00. Is the boosting constant....like at a certain rpm does it kick in? Is there a stock boose gauge? Thanks in advance.
You dont set a certian boost for it to stay there, you can set it so it only gets to a certian point and then it stops but it builds up as the engine rpm's get higher say from somewhere around 2000 rpm.... I believe the a4 stock boost is some where around 7 psi but its not that much... and no there isnt a stock boost guage.

Stock will start boost around 2500- 3krpm and fades around 5k rpm.
It's called a boost controller, it goes in between the wastegate actuator vaccum line, and you can control the pressure of which the wastegate actuates.
So, basically, what controls your boost essentially, is when your wastegate opens up, lowering pressure on the exhaust turbine, thus lowering the amount of output that the air turbine is putting out. It's not hard to figure out, just play around with it a bit.
