Default RE: ABS + Brake Light?

I just got my 99 A 4 quattro about a month ago and I'm getting the abs and brake light too. It comes and goes so I'm hoping it's intermittent. I want to try and clean the sensors. How do I do this, where are they located and what do they look like? Thanks for the help.

Are you sure thats the ABS? Mine is under the hood, along the driver's side fender.

If you drive with it unplugged, you are basically driving without ABS. If the problem is intermittent, then the first thing I would do is go through all your wheelspeed sensors and clean them to make sure thats not the problem.
Yes, I have a FSM and it says it's under the rear seat. Mine is intermitten, so I'll take your suggestion to clean them up this weekend. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll replace rear brake pad, as they are worn out, only have 3/8 inch of pad remaining.

If I still get the warning, I'll unplug it. Glad to know it's like driving with regular brake, no ABS.

Thanks a bunch.
Well, the FSM was incorrect. The ABS control module is not under the seat. ABS stuff is behind the windshield washer resouver, along side driver side fender. I see a wiring connector connects to it. Is this the right one to disconnect?

Default Report to NTSB for RECALL

I think we all need to send email to NTSB asking them to have Audi recall for this ABS control module failure.

What do you all think?

With the amount of failures I've read about it is pathetic... The ABS is a SAFETY component of the car... and if they fail at these rates Audi or Bosch should be held responsible for the problem. For gods sake... my FORD ABS module on my SHO was working fine at 147,000 miles...

I also have a faulty ABS control module, well thats what the stealership said. My ABS light has been on for the past four months, the thing is my brakes work fine. They've never locked up at high speeds and believe me I've tried. So until I come up with $300 to have it rebuilt I'll just ignore it. The Bosch ABS module is well known to be faulty, not just on Audis.
Don't you guys see the link for a company that rebuilds them floating around here? I think they charge about $300
