Default ABS Question

Hey guys,

My mom has a 1998 Audi A4, and she told me that her ABS sometimes just starts working for no reason, even if its a dry day and she is applying just a bid of break, she took it to the shop and the guy said it would cost $2000 to fix, witch I think its BS . What do you guys think how much would it cost to fix it approximately.

most likely the ABS controller or the pump itself. To give you an idea, at the stealership parts and labor for the ABS controller is $1500+. You can find it for much less though. It could also be something as simple as a faulty wheel speed sensor. But anyway 2 grand is a bit high.

its just starts working when it wants?? sounds like a bad/rusty connection on a wheel sensor to me but without any codes its just a guess ( I doubt its the ECM ) if that were bad it would never work, it could be something so simple like a bad ground
