This seems like a no brainer... am I missing something. Does this car have some incredibly low milage or somthing? You know if you ask nearly anyone on this forum they'll tell you that your car not wrecked isn't really worth that much so you'ld be much better off totaling the car, insurance pays off your loan, and then go buy another car (maybe even a better one). My guess might be that you are not in the financial situation you were when you bought your car and would have a hard time gettting a loan again... that would probably explain why you would want to buy back your wrecked car.

Its a 98, how many miles?

I wouldnt fix it. Take the money, pay off the loan, find a new audi, this time try a 1.8tqm.

Oh, and try not to wreck anymore, and post some pics and the story of how this happened!

You see, the thing is....I am NOT in the same financial situation I was in when I brought the car. I have accumulated some debt along the way with cards & student loans and it will be hard for me to buy another car, plus I don't have any $$$ saved.

**I found a guy who looked at the estimate. He said it should be a problem to fix. Some of the crap they had on there was really over-priced. He said he will look at the car tomorrow to fully asses the damage.

Of course it would make sense to claim it as a total loss, but if I do that, I will have NO CAR...NO MONEY.... and probably won't be able to get a loan this time.

You don't say if you are at fault or not in the accident. If the other person was at fault, I'd see if they could up the payment to cover car rental expenses for a month.

Now for the financial advice. As probably one of the oldest people here (I'm pushing 50) let me put out some general advice. Never use your credit card as a bank. If you can't afford to pay for it at the end of the month, you can't afford it. Use the credit card as a convenience item only, not to buy things on time. They are charging over 20% interest, sometimes above 25%.

I have never bought anything that I could not afford to pay for in cash. If I don't have the cash, I can't afford it and wait until I saved enough to buy it. It is called "Delayed gratification." This is good financial advice...In case you think I'm smart see below

The following was a BAD INVESTMENT

I had only minor student debt when I graduated university. When I married, I inherited 100K in student loans that my wife had accumulated, which we payed off over the next 10 years. When I got divorced, I ended up paying over 100K to my divorce lawyer. At a total of 200K, I figure that it cost me over 50K a F*ck.[:@]

I would definitly not have this car repaired. Not only are vehicles hard to sell when they have an accident in there past, but 95% damage is NO fender bender. This car would be unsafe when repaired and really isn't worth your time or money. Let the car go and find a nice/newer car for a good price, I highly recommend against repairing this vehicle. Thats just my opinion, why do you want it fixed so bad? Wouldn't you rather be in a vehicle that hasn't had such harsh damage, even for saftey reasons... I mean you've already been in one accident, then can happen again. You want a car you can rely on in a bad situation.... Find a 99.5 5speed! <----

Well then its time to pay the price for your bad decisions.
Total the car, and pay off the loan (a big ++++++ for your credit history)
Buy a car you can afford, like a $700 honda, that will be cheap to maintain and not have to get a loan. If you have no money, take the bus/bum rides to work until you have enough to buy a car.
Get your act together and fix your credit.
Make sure you start some kind of savings account and save some money for an emergency.
Buy an audi when you have the proper means to do so.
Even if you fix this car, it may be a drain on your current financial situation. You would be best to take the money, and pay the loan while able, to try and help fix your credit situation.
And, I wont even charge you for this valuable financial advice. Good luck to you.

Audi is fixed! Turns out that most of the stuff that needed to be repaired was found on another complete front-clip from a junk yard.

Painting starts today and now I just have to get new headlights again!!!!

Turns out the car wasn't nearly as bad as the insurance company claimed it to be.

YEEEEAAAAH! My Audi is coming home to me!!!!!
