Put a vacuum pump on it, then adjust it till it opens at your max boost.

widgget: u get a check engine light because u vented out of the engine. so instead of having a good A/F ratio, now u don't so it trips the computer. and it's won't really mess ur car up. running lean will though. cincytt can be straight to the point sumtimes but he knoes what he's talking bout.

I am not doubting his knowledge at all, TT knows what he is talking about. And again I apologize, I didn't make it clear that I was sharing my experience not a known fact. I am quite intelligent, my job in tales supporting mission critical network applications for fortune 500 companies all around the world. Now to call me an idiot simply for sharing what i though was correct information in an attempt to save this kid some trouble....... wrong or right i don't see how that was necessary. I have had a solid understanding of combustion engines and car mechanics and all of the turbo and direct Audi related information i have gained directly from this site over the past year. from what i have learned on this site most people feel that running a BOV can be harmful to the engine. I'm not talking about it exploding, i mean your going to throw some codes and could kill a few O2 sensors, but broken all the same. when i tested it for myself i only confirmed this. what long term effects there are i could not tell you since i have not run it for more then a few weeks in BOV mode. This is also the first time I've heard TT mention that a BOV is just fine and i would not be surprised if he is correct about it being just fine once the ecu adapts and whatever, it is just not what i have experienced, or read on this forum until today.

You can think of me what you will, but you talking about F'ing things up is just wrong. How long did you run it the way you did? There are plenty of people running a GFB hybrid and without problems. If you tell me you ran it like that for less than a day only venting a portionoutand claim it as going to f things up, you didnt even let adaptation work, nor have enough experience to call it as a fact

like i said, i'm only sharing what i have learned off of this forum and my own personal experience.
two weeks was the longest i ran the gfb in BOV mode. that should have allowed plenty of time to adapt but it didn't. again, this may be due to the injector/software/turbo combination i run.

don't go calling me an idiot for stating my experience. I'm not going to debate you about it TT, I very likely would agree with you if you stated your case in a civilized manner. just kind of disappointed that someone with the rep you have on this site would call someone a idiot for putting their two cents into an open forum.

and again... i did NOT mean to pass it off as fact.
