Default Aftermarket HU question

I did a search and couldnt find the answer so here goes:

I just got back from Circuit City. I wanted to get a Pioneer HU installed and the dude said:

"Since the Audi's have factory amps you would have to replace all of your speakers in order for an aftermarket HU to work"

Is this true? That's super gay if it is.

Depends on what impedence the stock speakers are supposed to run at... sometimes the deck just can't do it, so yeah, you might need new speakers. Or, you could get a new amp, while you're at it... that way you'll actually notice an improvement in sound quality.

Blah. My bose sounds pretty good, getting 150W RMS a piece, to the fronts... The highs could be better (they are too soft... but can sound okay sometimes), and I don't need lows when I have a W7 in the trunk... and midbass is what's REALLY hard to get in a system... and the bose have tonnes of midbass.
