I believe it uses the gt28rs turbocharger. Go search on the vwvortex forums, its a pretty common setup on the VW's. I've heard about reliability issues with that setup, but theres good and bad reviews so it depends on who you believe.

Alot of people go to the gt2871rs upgrade after the original eliminator reaches the end of its lifespan. As far as power figures and compressor maps you'll have to go find them for yourself.

I'm pretty sure its bigger then a k04 and smaller then a T3/T4.

yea they have a kit for the 2871R turbo aswell , i know that putting an aftermarket turbo on these cars can up the reliablity (not to mention the speed). So you are saying the 2871 is more reliable?

I dont know about reliability, but it makes more power. And its only a couple hundred dollars if you send the 28rs to garret for a rebuild.
