So what ended up being the problem? Did the o-ring assembly lube help?

 

Yeah the problem was that one of the o-rings going to the coolant tube on the drivers side was not seated right. So there wasn't anything sealing it off. I got some vasaline (sp?) and that seemed to make it work. Took me 3 tries to get it but I finally did. I ended up going through almost another gallon of coolant to! GRR... But now I have driven all over and it hasn't leaked yet!
