Default Air Bag Sign

Just after 60,000 miles on my car's odometer display AIR BAG sign is constantly on. Is this normal? Does this have anything to do with 60,000 service reminder? It does not go away...other than that there is nothing wrong with the car. What could be the reason for this? What do you suggest? Thanks.

My car - 2000 A4 1.8 L Turbo Q.

This is not normal. Check with dealers for possible warranty repair.
Otherwise have codes read.

Thanks for your replies. I am new to this Vag-Com stuff. How do I connect my computer with the car. Where do I buy a cable ? where is the connector located in car? Sorry for the dumb question but I have no idea. Thanks.

you need to (1) buy the cable (2) get the software (free version online) and (3) look near the hood release for the place to connect your cable

A cable can be purchased on ebay for 20-30 bucks, but you will need to get a software license with costs $100 US funds. you can download the evaluation version on Ross-techs site. Yes, you will hook it up to the USB port on your computer and then to the Serial Data OBD2 port under the steering wheel. Search "vag-com" youll find lots of interesting threads on the site.

you can read the codes but you cant fix the problem ( srs is a none memory stored system ) so it either works or not and you need to fix the problem or remove the bulb

Thanks a lot everyone. I will try the ground wire stuff and Vag-Com. If I am stuck, I will ask here. I appreciate all your help.
