Air Box Mod and Forge 007!!! YEAH!!!
I think we all know how tedious our MAF's can be, and how expensive they are. Any added possiblilty of moisture (not just direct water ingestion) getting up in there makes the possibility of the MAF sensor getting corroded more likely.
Yeah, I feel the same way. I had a 95' integra that I hyralock the engine in 5 inches of water. ( Had a cold air intake). I took the plugs out and crank the engine to get the water out put new plugs and oil and got the car running with no problems. I was lucky. That's why I splurge for the Carbonio

Sounds like you got lucky and mainly wet plugs was your problem. Hydro lock would mean your oil got thinned out to the point where your pistons seized to the cyl walls in the block due to lack of lube/extreme heat.
Your stock intake will pull water in too if its raining. Just clean your MAF every now and then and make sure your filter is dry and clean and you'll be fine.
My old lancer had it happen and it took 3 oil changes and 200miles to get all the water out. Guess what, the mitsu maf still worked, and lasted through the 70k+ mile before i got rid of the car.
the airbox mod is a scary thing if ya ask me. I thought about doing it a couple times, but the ratio of me doing it right or f'n it up just wasnt where i wanted it to be haha
+1 for cool noises
