Yeah I didn't make a bunch of holes like the DIY said to. I put maybe 10 smaller holes in there. Nothing big.

I think we all know how tedious our MAF's can be, and how expensive they are. Any added possiblilty of moisture (not just direct water ingestion) getting up in there makes the possibility of the MAF sensor getting corroded more likely.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I had a 95' integra that I hyralock the engine in 5 inches of water. ( Had a cold air intake). I took the plugs out and crank the engine to get the water out put new plugs and oil and got the car running with no problems. I was lucky. That's why I splurge for the Carbonio.

Sounds like you got lucky and mainly wet plugs was your problem. Hydro lock would mean your oil got thinned out to the point where your pistons seized to the cyl walls in the block due to lack of lube/extreme heat.

Didn't know that, but when I got the oil changed they did find water in the oil pan and transmission. I think it still equals bad in any case.

Your stock intake will pull water in too if its raining. Just clean your MAF every now and then and make sure your filter is dry and clean and you'll be fine.

My old lancer had it happen and it took 3 oil changes and 200miles to get all the water out. Guess what, the mitsu maf still worked, and lasted through the 70k+ mile before i got rid of the car.

Sounds like you got lucky and mainly wet plugs was your problem. Hydro lock would mean your oil got thinned out to the point where your pistons seized to the cyl walls in the block due to lack of lube/extreme heat.
hydro lock can also be used to refer to what usually happens when your engine ingests a considerable amount of water. that being, you bend/break pistons and connecting rods because water doesn't compress. a friend of mine drove his cherokee into a lake while he was messing around on the beach, and hydrolocked his engine that way. 3000 bucks and a new engine later, he busted his timing belt the day he got the truck back. I lol'd. this was a good 4 or 5 years ago, and he's still trying to get the shop to pay for his new head because they sold him a used engine with a timing belt that broke.
