Same problem here, 96 2.8L compressor kicks in, no cool air ! Dealer says $95/hr. to diagnose the problem that the stuff doesn't just evaporate, that there's a problem of some sort, either leak or component failure. After 9 years and 105,000 miles, the system doesn't tire out on it's own ? The car is new to me, so I have no idea what maintenance or repairs were done. I don't know if the timing belt was ever done or when the last tune-up was. The car was repo'ed so contact with the old owner is unlikely. The dealer quoted $1300 for the timing belt and $600 for a full tune-up like the 60,000 mile one. Seems high to me for the timing belt at the least. What do you guys think ? Also, the service dept. guy said the car does have a high and low pressure port. Is he wrong ???

 

turbokidcrx. find your self a local audi /vw shop. the cost will prob be half what the dealer quoted. and yes the service guy is wrong....this should be a reason why you should find another shop. for a lot more info on you car/engine visit here

 

Do not carge an A/C on the high side. It has more pressure than the can of R134A. It will not work and you'll get hurt. Wear glsses when charging on the low pressure side.
