Default air fliters

would taking you air box out and putting a HKS filter on the stock pipping with no air box be a bad thing?

you'll get hotter air if you do that...unless you make yourself a custom heat shield.

You're better off just not messing with it IMO. There really is little gain by modifying the intake on the 1.8t without fiarly extensive additional mods. If you're looking for cooler air at the intake, you're better off getting a bigger intercooler.

I wouldnt really mess with it..unless you get a kit that fits and works from a trusting company...but a DIY i dont know its kinda risky...

read through that page, you can do a partial modification if youre worried about low boost....i've only seen one person on this forum that actually did the modification, and iirc they were pretty happy with the results....but the stock airbox is already pretty good...you really only need better airflow if you're doing some major modding (like a bigger turbo)
