I have a 1997 Audi A4, with the same problem! It goes off mostly if I leave the windows cracked and lock it. I do that because It's too hot to leave them rolled all the way up, and all day long that thing is beaping.

Also, (As Im sure you've done) there should be something in the manual explaining how to turn the sensor off. I did to mine once or twice for those reasons.

There are pressure sensors at the top of the door frame so if you leave the windows cracked and wind blows in there it will set the alarm off. There's a button down next to the driver's side seat on the b-pillar(?) that you can push to turn them off. You have to do it every time you lock the car though.

You can also recrease the sensitivity of the alarm using a Vag-Com.

I just got a 2001 Audi A4 yesterday and I am having the same problems. I tried to lock it manually from inside of the car and all of the doors lock except the drivers side. I tried to lock it manually with my key from outside, looks like it automatically turns on the alarm because the red light on both drivers and passenger side doors pop up. I have tried to press the button by the door to turn off the sensor, I locked it by pressing the alarm button and the red light does not come up for a minute then a little later the red light comes up, does this mean that the sensor is off still? I don't understand I thought the red light would not come on. I tried to put my alarm on and then try to open with out pressing the alarm, it wouldn't go off which is really weird....please help tell me what the best thing to do to prevent from the alarm going off by itself.

Usually has to do with the motion sensors.. Think I read something about this, do you leave any windows open or your sunroof open when you leave the car? Because wind or a even something as small as a leaf could cause these issues... I think the motion sensor on and off button is located somewhere around the drivers side floor... Id know but I havent seen my car in over a week I HATE MY CLUTCH!

Wasn't there just a thread about this? Why resurrect a thread from last year? Haha.
