i can't figure out what the hell is going on.

i had a post a little while back about doing the DIY intake and it ****ing everything up royally, now my car is squeeling like a police siren and the turbo won't do anything. i have been messin around w/ it and i swapped out the dv and it's not that. I put the stock airbox back to it's original form and it's still making that noise. I called around to a few Audi service shops and they didn't seem to have any answers for me, one guy tried telling me my turbo was shot and wanted to order a new one and have them put it in. hah, not yet pal. so anyways, i am beseeching all of you for help. i dont know how to post a sound clip, but i'm sure that if a knowledgable audi person heard the noise it was making they would probably know what it is. This is my first experience w/ a turbo as all i've ever owned were chevy blazers....blah.

it doesn't make the squeeling noise at idle, but if i slowly rev the engine it starts making a lower pitch squeeling at about 3k rpm's, but if i just step on the gas real hard and quick and let go, it will make a very high pitch squeel at any rpm, even below 3k.

It's really sounding like your turbo is shot.

 

ugh i was afraid of that.

so what should i do? is it ok to drive to the dealership w/ a blown turbo? i mean despite the incredibly annoying noise and 4-banger power it seems to be running fine.

on another note, would this be an opportune time for a ko4 upgrade? or would it be cheaper and wiser to just get the stock turbo replaced?

this sucks, damn cars.

 

You can get a used K03 on the cheap... I've seen them sell on ebay for like 100 bucks.

 

Why not just get a ko4 now? if u think you may in the future.

 

just out of curiosity.....how would a t3/t4 turbo work.....say this one?
