Default altenator or battery

Today when i was driving home from the mall i noticed that my battery light went on and that my volts were about 11 instead of normal. I made a few stops and the volts stay at 11 and there is no need to keep the revs high or anything to keep the car running

Is it the altenator or the battery?

Probably the alternator. If its under 12v at the battery with the engine running your alt is probably on the way out. It could be the voltage regulator though...

Your alternator is mostlikely your problem. some people say you should be reading at least 12V but mine is constantly at 14V. I had the same problem.

Pull the + off the batt. if the car stays running its the batt. But i would say you will need to replace both if this has been going on for a week or more.

Well i came home from the doctors today and i noticed when i left the doctors that my battery wasnt charging at all and i was praying to make it home. Right as i pulled in the drive way my car went dead no power what so ever. I believe that it is the altenator since the battery wasnt charging

Now do i buy a bigger altenator for when i put more electronics in the car(ive heard that you have to do this)
(which altenator would i buy)
or do i simply buy an audi replacement altenator

It wont hurt to upgrade. It depends on what you are adding to determin how big to go. There is a local shop that rebuild alt. by me and just about doubles the output.

Make sure the alternator belt is tight. Charge the battery, and have
someone check the charging system.
