Hey Guys,

I have a 2009 A4 Quattro 4 cylinder. 2 days ago my car starting making this weird grinding/vibrating noise. I took it to get an oil change (it was due) and the mechanic told me my alternator went bad. This morning the belt snapped and started to smoke a little. My neighborhood mechanic told me he would replace for $75 if I purchased the part. I wanted to know if you had any advice on the best alternator, mid-range (I just moved and my budged is tight). I called the dealer ship and they wanted $575+. I know I can get a better deal than that. There are so many brands between Autozzone, Pep-boys, and Advanced Auto Parts. I don't want to replace one 2, 3, 4, and 5 times like some of the stories I've heard. I appreciate the help!

Stick with the Bosch or Denso remans. Most all others are hit & miss as far as reliabity.
