Default Alternator

Anyone have an idea when you could do preventative maintenance to replace the alternator and starter? Luckily i have gotten to that stage in my life where i wont wait for it to break and replace at a resonable time. Thoughts how long the b7's alternator and starter will last...time and or mileage? We do know they fail so i just dont want to get it done..i have committted to keep my audi forever (no laughing) since i have a lifetime power train warranty on it. thanks!

WHY?
1) Why spend money now when you don't have to?
2) If you have a lifetime warranty, then you wouldn't ever need to buy one, so WHY?

That is funny ****. Replacing parts before they fail? What a waste of money. Lets put it this way, I only put brakes and a failed CV axle up to 100K miles when I traded my B6. I have heard of preventive maintenance but that is plain rediculus.

I think i'm gonna paint my car. I mean it's perfect still but just for preventitive maintenance I should just do it now incase there is fading in 5 more years.

Get what i'm saying?
