Amplifier Install
Could anyone tell me what is the easiest way to run wires for an aftermarket amplifier.
Which panels to remove and how to remove them so that I can run the wires under the carpets.
Thanks

are you using an aftermarket headunit? Did you want to just tap into the factory amp? If so I can just get you the wiring diagram. I just lopped the ends off an RCA cable and spliced it into the low level lines goign into the bose amp. I ran my power cable from the the battery through the ECU box (there is a rubber grommet where the wires come in). The ECU box opens up into the cabin around the steering column. Then the power line can just be pushed under the molding all the way to the trunk.
To run the wires down the side foot-molding, you first need to remove the knee bolster (to get the wire through), then the kick panel, then the molding will pull up - the clips holding it on are extremely stiff. Careful, the molding is all in one piece and is prone to cracking if you twist it enough.
If you wish to run wires into the trunk, the best way is under the side seat bolster (the seat piece near the rear passenger door that the seat belt runs down). There is a small metal tab at the bottom of this bolster, bend it upwards slightly by hand and the metal loop holding the bolster on can be pulled free. The bolster will then pivot upwards and you can pull it off. (NOTE: you need to take the deckpanel off before you can remove the bolster - the thing with the rear speaker grills in it.) The wiring will then be led in behind the rear trunk liner. YOu will need to take this partly out, or at least push it aside enough to pull the wiring through.
I would run any RCA cables down the center console area, andunder the carpet into the trunk.
Run speaker wiring on the opposite side of the car as the power wiring.
I have a tech article in the tech section on how to remove the center console.

From the amp, lead them up the side, then under the kick panel and into the small rubber grommet that contains the other wiring that leads into the doors (you can see it there when you open your door). Its a PITA to get it through, but with a coat hanger, etc, you will get it in there.
