Default annoying sunroof problem

I have a 99 1/2 A4, and have had a sunroof problem over the lifetime of the car. Basically, I use the sunroof without problems for quite some time, then eventually it will start failing to close completely (pretty much there, just not fully down). When it gets to this point, it leaks when it rains heavily.

I used to take the car into the dealer for service, who would 're-adjust it' and then tell me that nothing is wrong with it (this happened maybe 4-5 times). I have no problem with this, I just don't know how to do it.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.

the sunroof switch is a common problem for A4's. I know on mine, if I put the switch to the closed position it often doesnt close all the way. Have they cleaned the switch or replaced it?

I looked through the service records...once they lubed it, most of the other times they said "functions to audi specification"

I forgot to mention that it opens and closes just fine (as expected), but that the front seems to be sealed while the back doesn't quite come up high enough (is about 1/2 to 1 cm lower than it should be). After taking to the dealer, it always closes flush until eventually, not immediately, it goes back to the back not fully closing (raising high enough to seal).

I had the same problem with my grand cherokee. what i did was i had it takin to Texas auto tops where they sealed the glass and disabled the sunroof controls. this was less expensive than replacing the entire sunroof. it might be an option if you cant get it fixed.

Inside your fuse panel should be a sunroof adjustment tool. If you look near your sunroof controls there is a little plastic square that pops off. Use the tool to adjust the sunroof to a position where it no longer leaks.
