Any comments on this idea?
I have been trying to figure out how I can get colder air into my B6 and I thought of this today. Put some sort of vent/scoop (very low profile of course) on the hood that directs air directly on the intake. There would have to be some way to close it off when it is raining or snowing. You could do this mechanically with a small actuator of some sort and have a switch in the car. Any comments on this idea would be appreciated.
The only problems I can see so far is the direct air on the filter may throw thw MAS off and have the car running bad, and problem 2 would be sealing it off when it is raining/snowing.

Sounds like a lot of work to me, with the risk of making it look bad, along with the rain/snow issues. I dont think it would make as much of a difference (performance wise) as the work that you would put into it. However, I dont think the MAS would be a problem... but Im no mechanic.
If you decide to do it take some Pics, Id love to see the final product!
Good Luck

I am going to try to find a used hood from a wrecked car. If I can get one for cheap in my area I have a good fabricator/mechanic that would definetly be up for the challenge. Hopefully I can get alot of input on this thread so I can get the plans on paper.

You forgot the second issue. You'd have a hood scoop on your Audi !!!
yeah don't do it. it wouldn't be worth it for the gains you'd get (if any) compared to a new intake. plus there's a huge chance it'd look like ****, so save the hassle...
There was a video on here of a s4 and a supra racing (I believe the title was poor supra). Anyhow the s4 had a nice looking hood on it, looked like smooth cut-outs.

Ha, this just proves that all of those kids putting all of that ugly crap on the outside of their cars is pointless! When you get an audi you can drive fast, and look good. Damn I'm glad I own one!
