I am looking to get an A4 1.8T Q this summer. Is there any significant difference between the two models, such as, recalls, hp rating, etc. Any info would be helpful. I am leaning toward the 2000 because from what I have seen they are identical and the 2000's are about $3,000 cheaper(more money for mods right away!!!)

in '01 they changed the boost level and added VVT (variable valve timing) which gives it a 20HP gain over older 1.8Ts (170 vs 150)...but if you're going to mod it it doesn't really matter...if they have the same mileage, i would definitely go with the '00

2001 sport packages came with the 17" RS4 wheels, too.
