tire pressure monitoring systems can monitor pressure 2 different ways, a sensor built into the valve stem (indicated by a metal valve stem), or the pressure can be monitored with the speed sensors. All tire pressure sensors do is monitor variances between the different tires. With speed sensors monitoring them it will notice different wheel speeds and will have an acceptable amount of variance, with pressure sensors the computer will notice too big of differences in the pressures of the different tires. In your owners manual there should be a lists of dummy lights and what each light means, if the book shows a pressure light when you first turn the ignition over look for that light on in the clusterbefore the pre ignition system check is finished.
