Default Anyone had this problem????

Well to make a long story short I got a flat tire that was previously plugged on I-95S. I got the spare out and all the tools and when I tried to take the nut caps off I discovered I didn't have the tool to do that in my kit. So to my advantage a fellow audi driver pulls over to my assistance in an 03 A4. He had a pair of pliers to get the nuts off. Then I attempted to take the foot long wrench and unscrew the five bolts. I put my whole bodyweight into getting the bolt loose but it wasn't having it. Finally the guy helping me goes in his trunk where he has a 2ft piece of pipe and I had to use it to get the nuts off. Now the screws were a little rusty, but a mechanic had that same tire off twice in the past two days. Do you need to carry a pipe of will wire brushing each screw resolve my problem. Thank god for the assistance!!!!!

I dont know what you are talking about, nut caps??? Center wheel cap?? You mean like caps that go over your lug bolts??? Sounds like they were over torqued. Another good way to get leverage is to put your foot on the lug wrench and stand on it. You shouldnt need to carry a pipe around, but its handy i guess. Glad you got your nutz off!

Stupid lazy mechanics are too lazy to turn down the torque on their impact wrenches for lug nuts/bolts. Thats actually a good sign of a mechanic you dont want to use. No attention to detail...

I tried to take my tire off the other day to inspect my control arms and I couldnt get some of the lugnuts to come loose with an impact wrench... I had to bring it to a tire shop to get them loose
