Just curious, as I had this info for my 300Z (it's kind of trivial knowledge, but I like knowing this kind of stuff). For a 99 B5 30V manual, anyone know the road speed at redline in each of the gears? I know, I know, go out and try it, but I'm curious if anyone has ever a) tried it out and found out real-world style; b) calculated it through RPM, final-drive, and transmission gear ratios; or c) seen a listing posted somewhere that has the info. I just wouldn't mind knowing how fast the car can go in each gear - anybody have this info?

That dont seem right for 5th cause ive maxed out just under 140mph.

 

Its different for manual vs auto. Manual maxes out like 130 something.

 

in a 1.8 manual i went faster then 130

 

i've hit 155 in my 5-speed manual before suspension. DAMM IT WAS FAST, the car had started to float that fast and i was on the stock tires from the dealer that are S#!T

 

My owner's manual says the car is limited electronically to 130mph. I'm assuming you guys that are hitting 140-155 are chipped and have the speed limiter deleted. I figured the car would be capable of significantly more than Audi allows it here in the States (seems like most Euro brands do that), but it's mainly academic for me. I haven't had the car up over 90, and probably won't - did a lot of that with the last car (150-160mph blasts way late at night) and I figure I used up my luck already. Plus, my outlook is different with kids. The inquiry was more of a "I wonder..." kind of thing than something I was researching in preparation for doing it.

Still, it appears to have spawned a somewhat interesting/useful thread, and you guys answered my question at least, so thank you - hopefully someone else out there was also wondering about it.

 

162!...I have yet to max out my 1.8 (or even come close) but I always thought that the tranny couldnt go any faster that like 130 something....whats the fastest you have seen this tranny handle?(B5, 1.8T, Quattro, 5spd.)
