APR chip fried turbo?
SO i go into my autoshop(an mtm cert shop) with a blown turbo! they say hey the apr chip could do it cause it relies too much on psi to give power....and that much psi at high altitude(1mile+ live in denver) will fry a turbo in no time? this seems kinda i dunno out there considering apr's big name and such? could there be truth to this? if so do i need to go and get the chip removed?
that is big BS. Apr uses the least amount of psi. Plus the check sums take care of the altitude. The turbo was on the way out before the chip was installed. Just replace the turbo with a nice cheap used one and keep it as is. This time give the turbo time to cool before shut off.
Im guessing you have 100k on your turbo right?
my turbo went at 60k running stock boost (becuause the idiot who had the car before me didn't let the damn thing cool off a bit before shutting her down, and prolly didn't let it warm up before WOT and such)
I would say that your turbo was definately on its way out anyways...
pick upa K03s and call it a day, quick easy bolt on, without any worries...or send yours in to gpopshop and have it rebuilt for something like 300$ (i think that's about right)
sorry to hear the news, definatley keep us updated, and this would prolly be the best time to add a TP of HFC! and maye even a 034 hf manifold!

Gotta agree APR has nutin 2 do with. Start car, drive like a grandma for first 5 minutes stayin completely outta boost, then beat the **** out of it for an hour straight, then drive like a Grandma stayin completely out of boost, park car,but don't shut off,let idle a minute then shut off. Turbo will last 150k+ miles. A turbo is a nice way 2 boost power, but you gotta use common sense.

Same as guns, guns don't kill people, people kill people.
APR doesn't kill turbos, stupidpeople kill turbos, see 1.8tK3MP.
