Default APR Chip Question (I'm a little dissapointed)

I've got a 99' A4 Q 5spd 1.8T. I purchased an APR 93 octane chip but unfortunately I'm not too impressed. I can tell no difference in 1st gear a minimal difference in 2nd and the biggest difference is in 3rd 4th and 5th but still isn't much. My rev limiter jumped to about 7,100 and the turbo got a lot louder but I feel that my added noise to added power ratio is a little off. I'm not bashing the compnay because I believe in their products i'm just trying to figure out what the deal is. The only thing I can figure is since it's non-drive-by-wire the performance gains aren't as impressive. Or maybe I let the numbers go to my head because it doesn't feel like I've added 56 hp and 90 lbs. of torque. Any help will be appreciated.

If you haven't replaced you DV, you should. When i got my giac, it alsmost seemed like my boost was messy until i got an aftermarket DV. Stock ones leak under chipped conditions, TT DV are better but not as good as aftermarket.

You should check for leaks and get a boost guage to make sure your boosting proper amount. Give it a few days sometimes it takes the ecu a little while to get used to the chip. Mine def got faster after a few days.

Agree, replace the diverter valve with a 710N. Unchipped v chipped is night and day.

I appreciate it guys. I asked APR when I bought the chip if I needed an aftermarket DV and they said no, the one I had was more than sufficient. However they also told me I needed to adjust the height at which my clutch engages by an adjustment on my slave cylinder (I then found out there is no adjustment, the hydraulic clutch is self-adjusting). So I can't help but question the knowledge of at least the guy I was talking to. I consider myself to have good mecahincal knowledge but I've never worked with a turbo. Will i be able to install the DV myself? Thanks again!

yes the DV is a DIY replacement - a simple replacement by releasing two hose clamps - you might want to have a couple on hand (I think one is the non-reusable kind). 20 mins tops.

I found a 710N on TTStuff.com for $36.99. They say it's the OEM DV for the new TT. Is this what y'all recommend?
