Audi A4 Need help ASAP
Ok if you have any common sense at all... and there is SMOKE billowing out of your tail pipe, then there is something wrong. You may be burning oil.
If you want to keep any hope of you internals not being damaged, don't drive your car anymore. Sorry but you don't seem to listen. I hope it all works out for you.

If I were you I would not start that car at all .... You WILL NEED a new Engine
A few months ago my 1998 A4 1.8T (79K mi)started showing signs of bad health. The CEL came on and off, and the the oil light started to come on and off as well
I drove it like this for about 2 weeks wondering what the problem was. Sometimes I had problems starting the car.
I was on my way home from work on one cold evening when the car decided to die on me. Earlier in the day I had noticed some smoke and the tone of the engine seemed to have changed, it occasionaly rattled, the temp sensor also showed a little overheating. I though this was going to be another easy fix.
I had the car towed to a mechanic and on opening the header they could not believe what they saw. All the 20 valves seemed like they were stuck, the pistons also looked like they had been fried. The oil pan looked like tar, the hoses baked, the list goes on .. To cut it short repairing was not a option. I had to get a new engine. The dealer wanted $5K for this. I had to lay this car to rest for a short while while I found an engine.
I was lucky to find a used engine for $1700 and then with the help of everybody I knew we installed the engine. The car runs now but the idling is a bit rough. I do not know why but will find out.

Well if his oil light was going on and off my guess would be sludge, clogged oil pump or oil pump just stopped working. New engines aren't cheap and you were lucky to find that engine at that price dude. I was looking around for them around the time my car was at the stealership.
