There's not much you can do with a V6. About the only things you can do are exhaust, chip, & supercharger:
"The only forced induction system currently in production for the Audi 3.0-liter V6 is Performance Engineering Systems’ (www.pes-tuning.com) G2 Supercharger. This kit is good for 295 hp and simply bolts on with no internal modifications necessary. This is due to the fact that it also runs a relatively low amount of boost. PES also has other things like ECU modifications and exhausts for this engine. Total Audi Performance at (www.tap1.com), 2 Bennett Automotive (www.2bennett.com) and Blaufergnügen (www.audiquattroparts.com) all carry a variety of different modifications including throttle bodies, cams and suspension parts."
mileage is not necesarily an indicator of the eingine's condition. Id get a compression test done on each and go with the one that has better #'s if they are similar in condition in every other way. If its a99.5, it will have one peice headlights and same asthe00/ 01's cosmetics. If its a 99, then it wont and i would be leaning towards the 01. Timing belt failures on a 2.8 arent as notorious as with the 1.8t, but if its schedualed time for replacement is near, id defiantely ask for that service to be done and take it for their asking price (if its from a dealer.) If its a private sale, just knock off about $1k or so from the asking price.
if your planning on doing a lot of modifications to the car performance wise I would stop looking for 2.8 v6 models and go with the turbo model. The v6 can really only get a chip, supercharger, exhaust...and little ****. It also costs alot to put the supercharger on it with it running properly. The turbo models have endless possibilities to upgrade performance parts!
