Yeah, if you get someone who's not a f*cking tool driving it, a Vette can be mean in the Auto-x. They really aren't meant to take the sudden tight corners, but with the right mods they can scream!

Wow!

Sure it was a nice experience.

Hope I'll join you in the next one.
I hope so too! You would have loved it. The drag strip was cool, but this was way more challenging and a bigger rush for sure.
Hey, If you need your tri-pod sooner, let me know and we can meet any day for lunch, I am at OSU, you are downtown, so not to far away. Otherwise, I can just bring the tripod and helmet to you on June 8th at the GTG.
Hope so too.

No rush on tri-pod. I can get it at GTG day.

Did they check the helmet for any kind of approve?

Yeah, they looked, and I had looked, and we could not find the rating on it anywhere inside or out.
So, I could not use it. They did have plenty of loaner helmets though, so we had no problem borrowing one from the club.

If you're looking to buy a helmet (ewwww loaner helmets[:'(]) check out the Pyrotect ones on soloracer.com (http://www.soloracer.com/pyroopenfacem.html) They are more than all you need, a bit on the heavy side, but think of how long you're going to be wearing it. 2-3 minutes tops. If you were getting into endurance or track racing, you'd need something lighter but, that one is perfect. The SCCA recomends open face helmets for all cars equiped with airbags, and they offer better visibility than a full face one. Plus, they offer greater breathability and don't get as hot in the summer months.

That's mine, a Pyrotect SA2005 rated one. I opted for the higher protection because I need it if I co-drive for my friend in stage rally! Not that I ever will, I totally have the worlds worst navigation skills!

Yeah, those CRAPCAR pussies only run the oval. The road course uses NASCAR straight 1, turns two and three, and part of straight 2. Then it's the road course which has nice hills and twists:

While I was there, I got to start one of the Big Bore races. I was on the track, with over 20,000 horsepower of cars inches from me and I totally got to signal the pace car to start and for the cars to go. It was a religious experience, feeling the massive C5 Corvettes, GT-3 Porches and other pure race cars with more horsepower than any one man (or woman) needs go rushing by me on either side. I could have touched each one of them as they passed me, but I like my fingers and hands too much!

If you go in cocky with no idea how to control your car in non-daily driving conditions, then you're going to be horrible. If you've actually taken the time to get to know your car, or are there for the purpose to get to know your car, then you should do pretty well. Bear in mind that there are people there who have been doing this longer than you've been driving, so, keep a level head and don't take anything personally. Don't compare yourself to anyone but another novice, otherwise you'll overdrive and do poorly. Check my videos in the A4 section, those were my first couple of runs in my A4.
