AUDI gearbox help
A mate has just had the gearbox go on his Audi A4.
Its got a 1.9 Diesel engine.
He's found a gearbox off a 1.8 20v Audi.
Anyone know if this will fit?
Anyone got a clue if the ratios will be different by much?
Ive been told that it may also be possible to fit a gearbox from a SEAT or Skoda, anyone know if this is correct?
(Never worked on an AUDI before, only Vauxhalls so dont have a clue on fitment with this)

hey, not sure if it will fit, from what i know, the diesels deffinatly have longer gear ratios due to the engine not revving up as high as petrol motors. the 1.8t has teh shortest gear ratios. the 2.8 is slightly longer, the 2.8 and 1.8 trannys can fit the same engine block. we don't have diesels here in the US so i donno if thier blocks are the same as fitment goes
