do maintenence, plugs, wires, oil change, fuel filter, injector cleaning (and none of that run through you tank crap, pull them out and soak in solvent and actually clean them) and emmision crap(pcv valve). and check timing. running a vagcom will also help isolate it if it is just a maf sensor or something. if all this fails ebay it

 

check the spark plugs
