Audi wants my car for testing?

You make it sound like its a sin if he gets a freeby for his trouble.

Tommy, dont take offense to this. Im just trying to understand how some people think. Sure you could speak up and want all this stuff but given that they didnt cause a problem or force anything upon you its kind of silly.
just a tip,
btw if you want a q7 go talk to the general manager.
if you want to go in a different loaner like an a6 or a fun little a3 talk to your service advisor. they will be more than happy to put you in something else.also be nice because it will go a long way.

Im not taking offense at all. I can see your point about Audi not forcing me to do this and it is my decision. However, when you have a large auto manufacturer requesting someone give up their car for 3 weeks and have it treked 3000 miles one way so they can run tests, there should be some kind of compensation offered other than a loaner car. I can get a loaner car if I bring mine in for an oil change. and like I stated before the conversation wasnt a give and take it was "hey can you help a brotha out?" Well, Im sorry, when I go to the dealership and the bill is rediculous for the oil change and brake job, if I said "can you help a brotha out?" Id get laughed at.
well anyway, the deal is off. I just spoke with the guy from coprorate and he stated the total bill for Audi to ship the car from NJ to CA and back would be close to 8 grand and they are not willing to pay that kind of money. He said they would have to find a car closer to their facility. I would have thought he would have known what he was getting into before ever contacting someone regarding this. oh well. looks like Ill be paying for the repair after all.

so all this **** talking is all for nothing .......all this argument over... what to give you for a loaner??? is all for nothing.. now nor do you get a loaner you also get stuck footing the bill to...how wasnt audi helping you out in the first place??? seems to me any other way would of been great for you but now its nothing and just another repair for them to make money on you for.....
Well, My initial post was right after I was contacted for the first time and I was a little leary on the whole thing. I wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience. So if it was for nothing, then Im sorry for wasting your time. Better yet maybe Audi should be sorry for wasting your time as they should have calculated shipping before contacting me.
In regards to how Audi wasnt helping me out in the first place............Maybe you are just a better person then I. If Im asked to "go out of my way" by a large coporation I would expect there to be some form of compensation offered. "Out of my way" doesnt mean I have to physically do something in this case obviously, what I have to do is a)give up my car for 3 weeks and b) have to worry about it being shipped completely across the country on a trailer round trip. The $130 wasnt even offered to me, I had to mention it to him as he was unaware that there was a charge from the dealership.
Im by no means made of money nor claiming to be, however $130 for a cat? .......whatever......its the cost of owning a car and making repairs on it. Now if there was no warranty involved and I was to pay the entire bill? then I would have not thought twice about letting them have the car. If my car was a lease I wouldnt care what they did to it, but since I own it (or at lease I will when Im done paying for it
) Im a little more concerned for its well being.
enough of my blah blah blah, thanks all for your feedback. At the very least it made for some discussion.

Dude, say the only way you'll do this is if you get a S4 or Rs4 as a loaner. Otherwise you are not willing to risk your cars well being for nothing in return, or at least get some money out of the whole deal. I wouldn't send my car away for a month to drive a Tauras and possibly have them mess with my car!
