Default auto block vs. manual block????

Hey guys, I am going to look at an engine this weekend, and

1. I was wondering if anyone knew if the 2001 1.8t block with an auto tranny is any different than an 01 block with the manual tranny.
2. I was wondering how much different the block is on an 01 than a 97, if any. Thanks for you help...

I dont know of a change from 97-01 but the auto vs manual blocks are the same. The bell housing on the transmission is what mounts to the block so the engine wont need changing.

ORIGINAL: avant80@2.6

fly wheel is the difference

automatics dont have flywheels they have flex plates and yes they are completly different. Plus that isnt part of the block so yes the blocks are the same.
