Default Autochanger Cables

Hi all,

Just found a supplier for getting an autochanger :-) .... http://www.add-a-cdchanger.co.uk/index.html

But the question is do I need a cable or not? Was under the impression from what I have read that a 2001 A4 should have it prewired in the boot/trunk. When I look I cant see anything.... does that mean I need to remove the interior boot trim to find it or should it be readily visible. Couldn'y find any info on that when I searched the archive so any help as ever grately appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah, in our old 96 it was stuck up in the top of the trunk, in my 2000, it is in with the tool kit, on the left side compartment. I'd get a flash light and look around in there (mine has a changer, so I dont know if yours would be in the compartment when you dont have the changer). But yeah, my best guess is that its taped up somewhere in that compartment.

I have a stock changer for sale too! Out of my 2000.

Thanks TGPorsche96 and headshok2002... The car has a Concert HU with Bose speakers... I will take another look when I get her out of the garage again. I couldn't see anything taped up in the top so I will take everything out and have a good look later.

How much did you want for the stock changer headshok2002???

By the way if those pics are of your cars they are VERY sexy looking machines guys!!!!!!!!!!!

PM me if your interested in the stock changer... I dont know what they go for, around 200 I think, in the used market. The dealer obviously wants like 400+, crazy ****'s. I love that ultrasport TGPorsche... so very sweet.

Yeah, as for your wiring, I'd bet its on the left side, in that compartment... that is where the changer mounts. on the 96, the changer mounted up top, so that is were the wire was run to.

Well I hunted high and low in the trunk... poked my fingers everywhere I could but I cant find a cable for the auto changer guess I havent got one :-(

Suppose I should check the back of the HU... how easy is that to remove?

You need special "keys" to pull the head unit out... hard to describe, but crutchfield sells them. Why not just go to your dealer, and ask them where it is? Or even just call them... it should be in there!

Why not just buy a used oem one from ebay instead of messing around with that crummy thing?
