So, on my 2005 A4 i get this error fault almost every time i am driving the car. it comes on about 10-20 min into my drive, and it beeps the sound like when your almost out of gas. The picture in the display looks like a low beam headlamp, and it is the automatic headlamp failure? It then goes away, and does not stay on. I called Audi, and they told me that if it is not lit up when i take it to them, that they will not be able to pull up the fault code, and therefore cannot disgnose the problem. Are they telling the truth or giving me a run around? The headlamps seem to be working fine in the automatic mode. It just gets very annoying hearing the sound every time i drive the stupid car.

No they are correct. Mine has been doing it too. I have a vag-com so next time I get the error I am going to scan the code while the car is still on. Apparently the headlights don't store the codes permanently all the time.

 

forreal, i am about to kill myself if i hear this dumb thing beeping again. it happened today as i was driving, so i took a picture of it on my cell phone, and then audi told me that seeing t was not enough, it can be on and off all the time, but they need to have it on, and they told me to call back when it was on all the time.
