its a pretty well known basic scale to go off of. If you have been the track/cars/mods for a little bit than you should have heard this before.
Simple fact is the stock turbo is just too small to push the 1.8 into the 14's...

a kid that i used to live by has a chipped jetta and its weak. the only reason people think these things are quick is because of the initial boost that you get from the turbo, but in reality they have a horrible low end, and a horrible top end, they have good mid rang power but thats good for nothing better than a mid-high 15 second quarter mile... i EMBARRASSED a stock 1.8t in my STOCK NON TURBO eclipse, it was a good 3-4 car lenghts..
i love audis, and even tho the 1.8 CAN be a quick car, just a chip and filter will not make it too fast. Most people think they are so fast cuz it is a huge improvement from stock, but i would bet a stock DSM would walk all over a chipped/filter 1.8t.
hence the reason i got a 12v 2.8l, lol...

the audi was a 1999 1.8t quattro manual.
I beat him pretty bad, I know stock for stock they both run about a mid 16 so it was a drivers race i guess and people around my town consider me to be the best driver around, lol, so I took him pretty easily, and he was so embarassed cuz he was talkin mad crap about my car, little did i know I would own an Audi one day.

GIAC chiped 1.8t has 200hp/235tq PLUS IT's 200lbs lighter
How is the 2.8 a low 15 and the chiped 1.8t is a high 15????????? You should try to help people not feed them your N/A BS remember WWJD.....lol *** hat
